Depersonalization is a strange disorder in which the sufferer feels that they are living in a dream world; it is the feeling of watching oneself act, while having no control over a situation. It can be considered desirable, such as in the use of recreational drugs, but it usually refers to the severe form found in anxiety and, in the most intense cases, panic attacks. Often a person who has experienced depersonalization claims that life “feels like a movie” or things seem unreal or hazy. Also a recognition of self breaks down (hence the name). Depersonalization can result in very high anxiety levels, which further increases these perceptions – a snowball effect. One way to describe the physical manifestation of the feeling is to compare it to a film technique called the vertigo shot or dolly zoom. In this technique, the subject of the picture stays fixed within the shot while the surrounding background is pulled away, providing a sense of vertigo or detachment.

Thi is a horrible feeling. I was diagnosed with panic disorder at one time. It has since been changed to Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. Medication helps! Take it if you need. There's no reason to be miserable.

Phantom Car Crash

On December 11, 2002, two motorists called police to report seeing a car veering off the A3 trunk road with headlights blazing at Burpham in Surrey. A thorough search uncovered a car concealed in dense undergrowth and the long-dead driver nearby. It turned out that the crash had actually happened five months earlier when the driver, Christopher Chandler, had been reported missing by his brother.

Simultaneous dream 09-22-2010

The dream I had last night:
I saw Debbie (my best friend's sister who died from cancer) and a younger boy. There were no surroundings. Everything was black oyher than them. Debbie walked away from the kid. She smiled and then looked down like she was bashful. I heard Stephanie's (my bff) voice to my left saying, "She looks sad." I said, "No. She's happy." Debbie had full dark hair and a movie star smile. She had on a pink shirt.

The dream Stephanie had last night:
"I dreamed about Debbie last night. She was with Ryland (Steohanie's 12 yr old nephew). She had on a purple shirt that said Relay on it. She wasn't talking. She walked away from Ryland and looked down at the ground. I said that she looked sad. Someone next to me said no, she's happy. Then Debbie looked up and smiled at me. I told the person next to me I was glad she was here because Debbie wouldn't have come to me. She had thick curly dark hair and her smile was so beautiful. Gracie (her Great Neice) was there, too. We were going on an outing, like tubing or something."

Nannie's House

Dusk at Nannie's

I was on the back of a dirt bike when it happened. My cousin, John, was driving. We were riding the trails we had worn through the fields that summer barefooted, sunburned, and carefree.

We knew we were to call it a day before the sun was set. Thundering down the trails we decided to go around just one more time . . . again.  Long weeds tickled my feet as they glided through the spaces between my toes. We roared back up behind the old family home and along the font by the road.

As we passed the front of the house, I glanced threw the screen door and saw her, Nannie, looking out at us with an alternating expression. She looked both relieved that we were nearby and upset because we had not come in at dusk. Wait! Nannie had gone to Heaven many years ago. Was I seeing things?

Just then, John brought the bike to a dirt flinging stop. He turned to me and asked, "Did you see Nannie?"

Sensing another's thoughts

Sensing Another's Thoughts

I did not call this post "mindreading" because it sounds hokey and because I'm talking about something that doesn't happen on command.
I have experienced this phenomenon many times but only with a few people.
The experience I'm writing about today is one of my favorites because it brings back happy childhood memories.
A new girl moved into my neighborhood when I was 11 years old. She was 10. We will call her Taylor. Taylor and I hit it off from the get-go. We remained friends until about age 20 when she married. Taylor was a one friend type of person.
Her house was on the street behind my house. I could walk 2 doors down, walk down their driveway, around the house to their back yard and eventually be in Taylor's back yard. It was always shady in those two yards with lots of tall pine trees. It wasn't always cool. This is Georgia I'm talking about. Every day during that long summer, Taylor would ring my phone and simply state. "Meet me in the middle." We would get together and practice our cheers, shoot hoops, walk, sit and talk, give one another manicures, and other things young girls do - secret things.
One breezy Saturday after we had started back to school, I felt like I was supposed to meet Taylor in the middle. I started walking and, once I reached the neighbors backyard, I could see Taylor coming. She said, "You heard me." From that day forward, phone calls were unnecessary.
We were so happy that summer. However, we did get into trouble for making a path of worn grass through the neighbors yard.
Taylor and I were thick as thieves. We dressed alike, looked alike, and were often asked if we were sisters.
There is a song I hear every great now and then that reminds me of Taylor. I hope she has as many fond memories as I have from those years we were beast friends.

*Lyrics to the song:

            Meet in the Middle
               By Diamond Rio

It was seven hundred fenceposts from your place to ours
Neither one of us was old enough to drive a car
Sometimes it was raining, sometimes it would shine
We wore out that gravel road between your house and mine

I'd start walking your way
You'd start walking mine
We'd meet in the middle
'Neath that old Georgia pine
We'd gain a lot of ground
'Cause we'd both give a little
And their ain't no road to long
When you meet in the middle

It's been seven years tomorrow since we said our vows
Under that old pine tree, you ought to see it now
Standing in the back yard reminding me and you
That if we don't see eye to eye there's something we can do

I'd start walking your way
You'd start walking mine
We'd meet in the middle
'Neath that old Georgia pine
We'd gain a lot of ground
'Cause we'd both give a little
And their ain't no road to long
When you meet in the middle.

What is a simultaneous dream?

I believe there are 3 meanings. For the sake of argument, let's say :

Simultaneous Dream ~ having 2 dreams at the same time; dreaming 2 dreams at once; 2 people having the same dream at the same time or different times.

I'm sure I've experienced 2 of the 3. I've had 2 dreams at the same time. In this instance, I refer to a dream as something we wish to have or achieve. I once wanted to be a stage actress and the (just happens to be
female) lead guitarist in a hardcore rock band. I have
been these things alone in my living room but never at
the same time.

I'm trying to remember if I have dreamed 2 dreams at the same time while sleeping. Of course, they would be lucid
dreams which will probably be a different post one day.

Finally, yes, I have had the exact same dream at the exact same time (while sleeping) as several people whom I've been very close to in life. Hmmmm, more ideas for posting.

I guess I should have started with something more simple. Why didn't I? "Deja Vu" was not available.
